Patch Notes
What’s changed in NPC Forge, newest first.
June 1, 2026
- Session Notes Fixed the Encounters section showing raw "<strong>" tags around an encounter's name instead of bold text. Encounter synopses now render bold correctly, and any **bold** you add when editing a synopsis shows as bold too.
May 29, 2026
- Session Notes New Session Planning section at the top of every session note — a private space for pre-session prep, hooks, and encounter ideas. Marked Private and never shared with players, even if you turn on note sharing.
- Session Notes New Private Notes section below Session Planning — another DM-only space for reflections, secrets, or anything else you don't want at the table. Also marked Private and never shared.
- Session Notes You can now share the Session Notes section of a note with players whose PCs are linked to that session. A new Share box on the note lists each linked player (with their character names) and lets you toggle sharing per person. Shared notes appear in the recipient's session library with a "Shared by …" badge and open to a read-only view showing just the title and notes. Edits to the title or notes show up live for every recipient; the Planning, Private Notes, Loot, Encounters, and other sections stay yours.
- Dice Widget Fixed a rare case where the floating d20's roll sound could stop working after many rapid rolls in the same tab. The widget now shares a single audio context instead of leaking a fresh one each click.

- Spellcasting Wizard taken as a secondary class now gets the same spellbook + prepare-toggle treatment as a primary wizard. The extras panel shows the Spells Prepared X / Y badge, dims unprepared spells, and lets you click the star on any entry to prepare or unprepare it. Going over your prepared cap is blocked the same way it is on a single-class wizard.
- Spellcasting Non-caster characters with a wizard dip (e.g. Fighter 3 / Wizard 1) now render their wizard spellbook on the main spellbook panel instead of showing nothing.
- Currency Editing your gold / silver / copper no longer steals focus from the field while you're typing — the values still save automatically, just without the page flicker.

- Race Features The Race Features card is no longer under construction. Seven MMM races now surface their player-choice features during character creation: Centaur (Natural Affinity skill), Changeling (Changeling Instincts — 2 skills), Eladrin (Fey Step season), Goliath (giant ancestry), Kobold (legacy: Craftiness / Draconic Sorcery / Defiance), Shifter (subtype: Beasthide / Longtooth / Swiftstride / Wildhunt), and Vedalken (Tireless Precision).
- Race Features New "skill or tool" picker for races like Vedalken: a single dropdown with Skills and Tools grouped into sub-headers, so you pick exactly one. No way to forget to choose, no way to pick both.
- Race Features Editing your Racial Choices on the PC sheet now cascades live. Skill picks add to your Skills column; tool picks appear in Other Proficiencies; language picks join your languages list; Dragonborn ancestry switches the matching damage resistance. Pick caps (e.g. "choose 2 skills") are enforced — extra checkboxes won't take.
- Abilities Variant Human and Half-Elf ability score picks now update live when edited — old picks are subtracted and new ones added, with saves, skills, passive Perception and attack rolls all recomputing in place. No page refresh needed.
- Abilities Stat-modifying magic items now show up directly in the Ability Scores card. Items like Gauntlets of Ogre Power, Headband of Intellect, Amulet of Health, Belt of Giant Strength (all tiers), and Belt of Dwarvenkind add a magic-wand badge under the affected stat with a tooltip listing the source and effective score. Toggling attune or removing the item updates the badges live.
- Abilities Race-granted ability score increases get a small "+1 race" badge under each affected stat so it's clear where the bonus came from (the +1 is already baked into the displayed score; the badge just makes the source visible).
- Sharing & PDF The Race Features card is now included on the read-only share page and in PDF exports — traits, skill / tool proficiencies, damage resistances, and the racial choices made during creation, all rendered with proper labels.

- Site New Feedback button — report a bug or suggest a feature from anywhere in the app. On desktop a floating Feedback pill sits in the bottom-left corner of every page; on mobile the button lives in the footer so it doesn't take over the screen. Submissions land in a new admin inbox for review.
- Compendium Fixed a crash when opening the Add form for Monsters, Backgrounds, or Hazards in the Homebrew Vault.
- Gaming Groups Groups now cap at 20 members. The Members card shows the live count, and once a group is full the invite link and email-invite form are replaced with a notice — remove a member before inviting anyone new. This keeps groups table-sized and reinforces the private, invite-only model.
- Spellcasting Spellbook now respects the per-class cap. Every PC sheet shows live counts (Cantrips X / Y, Spells Known or Spells Prepared X / Y) that warn yellow at the cap, and the server enforces the cap on save so it can't be bypassed.
- Spellcasting Wizards can now prepare spells. The full spellbook shows with a star button on each entry — tap it to prepare or unprepare (cap = INT mod + wizard level). Unprepared spells render dimmed so it's clear what you can actually cast today. Existing wizards auto-default to a sensible prepared list (lowest-level spells first) until you make your own choices, and new spells learned at level-up auto-prepare if there's still room.
- Compendium Added an Under construction badge on the Homebrew Vault tab to signal that the section is still being built.
April 29, 2026
- Compendium New Homebrew Vault tab — a private space for authoring your own subclasses, spells, monsters, equipment, magic items, feats, races, backgrounds, conditions, and hazards. Each type has its own form with the fields it needs (spell level and school, magic-item rarity and attunement, monster CR, and so on); entries can be edited or deleted at any time. Vault entries are private to you. Surfacing them in the PC creator dropdowns and sharing with your gaming group are coming next.

- Character Sheet New Race Features section tracks the traits, skill and tool proficiencies, and damage resistances your race gives you — each with its own edit pencil so you can tweak descriptions or fix entries after creation. Existing characters auto-populate their fixed race traits on next view.
- Character Creation Races with choices now prompt for them at creation: Dragonborn picks a draconic ancestry (setting the breath weapon and damage resistance), Half-Elf picks two skills plus two +1 ability bumps, Dwarf picks an artisan's tool. Variant Human is now available, with pickers for two +1 ability bumps, one skill, one feat, and one extra language.
- Character Sheet Equipped weapons now auto-populate the Attacks section. Add a weapon to your equipment (the autocomplete suggests all PHB weapons), click the Equipped toggle, and the attack row appears with the correct to-hit and damage for your ability scores, proficiencies, and class/race weapon training. Unequipping removes it.
- Character Sheet Magic weapons on the Magic Items card auto-populate attacks too. Worn (and attuned, if required) magic weapons derive their attack from a chosen base PHB weapon plus the item's magic bonuses. Items with a fixed base (Dagger of Venom, Oathbow, Sun Blade, and others) set it automatically; generic items like Weapon +1 or Flame Tongue prompt you to pick the base. Extra damage like Flame Tongue's 2d6 fire appears as its own clickable dice roller alongside the base damage.
- Character Sheet The "Weapons & Attacks" section is now just "Attacks," since weapons are managed on the Equipment and Magic Items cards. Manual entries (spell attacks, homebrew) still live in the Attacks editor.
- PC Library Multiclass characters now show their full class breakdown on library cards (e.g. "Fighter 3 / Wizard 2 • Total Level 5"). Single-class PCs display as before.
- Character Sheet Spellcasters who know Mage Armor can now cast it directly from the Armor Class box. Click the glowing blue shield to toggle the spell on or off and AC updates live. If you’re wearing armor that blocks the spell, a warning names the item so you know what to remove.
- Site Added this Patch Notes page. Reach it from the link beneath the features on the landing page.
- Compendium Removed three duplicate combo entries from the Magic Items list (Ammunition +1/+2/+3, Wand of the War Mage +1/+2/+3, and Weapon +1/+2/+3). The discrete +1, +2, and +3 variants remain.
- Compendium New Conditions tab covering all 15 SRD 5.1 conditions, with search and an expanded view per condition. Exhaustion shows its six-level table inline.
- Compendium New Backgrounds tab listing all 12 PHB backgrounds (Acolyte through Soldier) with skills, tools, granted feature, and starting equipment in a click-to-expand row.
- Compendium New Hazards tab covering SRD diseases (sewer plague, cackle fever, sight rot), all 14 SRD poisons (with contact / ingested / inhaled / injury tags, save DCs, damage, and trade-goods prices), and the SRD sample traps (collapsing roof, falling net, fire-breathing statue, pit variants, poison darts, poison needle, rolling sphere). Filter by category and search by name.
- Spells Audited the spell list against the full SRD catalogue and filled in 67 missing entries (including Acid Arrow, Animate Dead, Clone, Conjure Celestial/Fey/Minor Elementals/Woodland Beings, Contingency, Fabricate, Find Steed, Glyph of Warding, Magic Circle/Jar/Mouth, Planar Ally/Binding, Prismatic Spray, Prismatic Wall, Simulacrum, Sunburst, Teleportation Circle, Wall of Ice, Weird, Word of Recall, and ~50 more). Also removed five duplicate entries (Sending, Stinking Cloud, Telekinesis, Commune with Nature, Tree Stride) that had slipped in. Spell count: 354, all unique.
- Encounter Tracker Conditions on a combatant are now managed with a dropdown of the 15 SRD conditions — picking one adds the pill instantly. The Custom option prompts for a write-in name. Each pill has a one-line tooltip, links to the Compendium, and carries an × to remove it. A separate Notes field below the pills persists whatever you type.
- Encounter Tracker Exhaustion now stacks: picking Exhaustion again on an already-exhausted combatant bumps the level (×2, ×3… up to ×6) rather than duplicating the pill. At ×6 the combatant is marked Down automatically, and PC combatants have their character sheet flagged Dead. The Exhaustion pill’s tooltip lists the cumulative effects at the current level.
April 22, 2026
- Character Sheet Armor Class now computes automatically from equipped armor, shields, and magic items. Swap gear and your AC updates with no manual bookkeeping.
- Character Sheet New Magic Items section on the PC character sheet. Add items from the full SRD 5.1 magic item list or author your own custom entries, with attunement tracking against the PHB three-slot limit.
- Compendium New Magic Items tab covering all 362 SRD 5.1 magic items, with search and filters for category, rarity, and attunement.
- Character Sheet The Attacks section was renamed to “Weapons & Attacks” for clarity.
- Multiclassing Each caster class on a multiclass PC now has its own spellbook editor, so you can modify known and prepared spells per class.
- Multiclassing Fixed a bug where leveling up a multiclass caster could wipe the secondary class’s cantrips and spells.
- Level Up Known-spells casters (warlock, sorcerer, bard, ranger) can now swap one known spell for another when they gain a level, per PHB rules.
